| The
CMC is a central software console for one or more
Observer Monitoring Systems. The software resides
on a dedicated PC (workstation) and monitors the
state of any number of remote Observer systems
via direct connection, modem or TCP/IP network.
Each remote Observer (or group of Observers)
is represented by an on-screen icon. The state
of the remote Observer is depicted by the colour
and state of the icon.
Red
- Indicating an Alarm has been received
Blue
- Indicating a possible dead system (deadman timer)
Green
- Indicating that it has recovered after previously
being dead.
When an alarm message is received by the CMC,
the attached site name is used to determine which
icon is responsible for reporting. The icon or
PC screen is then made to flash (red), the alarm
is logged, an audible alarm is generated (beep
or individual .wav file) and any other specified
action is taken (e.g. centralised paging, execute
a program etc.)
Double clicking any of the icons will connect
directly to the Observer specified.
CMC Features
• Multiple CMC’s can be cross-linked
to update alarm status (Each CMC can be a master
or a slave and each reflects the status of the
others).
• Each Observer is monitored for correct
operation by the CMC — generating a local
and/or pager alarm if any individual unit fails.
• In the event of an alert being received
various actions can take place.
i.e.
Send message to pager or mobile phone
Play a wav file
Execute a program
Place the message in a Windows NT event log.
